Shaun Rai is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) who is presently the CEO of a black owned company, Stonehill Property Fund, with assets exceeding R1bn.
He qualified in 1988 and remained in public practice for 10 years practising under Shaun Rai and Associates.
His focus was entrepreneural businesses as well as sub-contracting to the Auditor General of South Africa.
During the last two years of practice his company entered into a formal association with Arther Anderson Chartered Accountants (SA).
After leaving practice he became involved with merger and acquisition works, as well as community based organisations such as Cape Empowerment Trust Limited.
Cape Empowerment Trust Limited was formerly listed on Johannesburg Securities Exchange and comprised of community shareholders namely: Chris Nissen Park, Maart Education Trust, Western Cape Women’s Investment Forum, Mathew Goniwe Cradock 4 Trust, Anytrade 66 Trust (Cleaning company), Nonduna Vasi Trust; as well as larger institutions such as Sanlam, Old Mutual, PSG and other financial institutions
He also served on the board of various listed and unlisted property companies such as African Alliance Properties, Ambit Properties Limited, Ascension Properties Limited and is currently heading Stonehill Property Fund which is poised to list on JSE during the current year.
